A framework for managing donations and commissioning of Public Art
Context: Defining "public art" is harder than it may seem. Shoreline's policy for Public Art went through the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Board and was reviewed before going to City Council. This document was produced to better reflect the actual processes involved in bringing public art into the city and to reflect the type of capital improvement projects contributing to the Municipal Art Fund.
Go deeper: Highlighting sections such as the acquisition process, defining what the Municipal Art Fund can and cannot be used for (selection, acquisition, installation, display, restoration, relocation, deaccessioning, and administration of Public Art), along with how public art is relocated and the process of deaccessioning is important to have a thriving and effective cultural arts program.
