THE POSITION
The County of Santa Clara, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, is seeking a Deputy Director of Parks & Recreation. This key leadership position involves overseeing the management of park planning, real estate, natural resource management, and construction services programs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Provide leadership in the management of park planning, real estate, natural resource management, GIS, Countywide Regional Trails, and construction services programs. Ensure the department meets regional recreation, trail, and open space needs by achieving the vision for the parks system through acquisition, planning, natural resource management, and development of quality park facilities. Develop and manage budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability. Engage with community members and stakeholders to foster collaboration and enhance customer experiences. Oversee project management and land stewardship of parks, open spaces, infrastructure, and facilities. Supervise staff and ensure a supportive and respectful work environment.
